Forney Pipeline Engineering Design and Construction Project, City of Dallas Water Utilities
CP&Y designed this emergency project to supply an additional 120 mgd of raw water 3-mile-long, 96” diameter pipeline from Lake Ray Hubbard to Dallas Water Utilities’ East Side Water Treatment Plant hydraulic design of new 96" pipeline and new 1,000 hp pump in two days permitting staff made contacts to the regulatory agencies to obtain the necessary permits, which included a Section 404 permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a Major Highway Crossing Permit from TxDOT. This was a fast-tracked design project : April 27 - first pipe was placed in the ground April 27, four weeks after NTP; May 12 - over 3,500 ft of pipe placed and 360-ft-long, 113" diameter highway crossing tunnel more than 75% complete; June 27 - 14,650-ft-long pipeline placed into service.
