Protecting the Citizens from Floods and Preserving San Felipe Springs while Saving the City Time and Money, Del Rio Drainage Ditch Study, Del Rio Texas
CP&Y was hired to determine if seven drainage ditches were considered jurisdictional and to determine what permitting, if any, was required. The City of Del Rio currently uses surface drainage to convey its storm water runoff after a rainfall event. The majority of the ditches were severely eroded and required maintenance; therefore, this project needed to be completed before the next major storm event and subsequent flooding.
A complete delineation of GIS maps were produced, and the USACE was consulted. Due to the wetland regulatory knowledge of CP&Y, a Section 404 permit was not required for the proposed work on any of the seven drainage ditches. This quick turn-around project helped the City to begin construction on time and under budget. In addition, this project improved the safety of Del Rio citizens by allowing quick maintenance on the deteriorating drainage ditches.
