WATER RESOURCES ENGINEERS/PROJECT MANAGERS (Posted 4/12/07)
Applications are being accepted from qualified Registered Professional Engineers with consulting experience in the field of water resources for CP&Y’s Water Resources Division. The desired candidates will have a BS, MS, or PhD degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Hydrologic Sciences, or a similar field with emphasis on surface water hydrology and riverine hydraulics, be a registered engineer in Texas and a U.S. citizen, and must have 5 to 15 years of full-time experience in consulting engineering, with demonstrated proficiency in the use of hydrologic and hydraulic model software generally recognized in the engineering field (such as HEC models, NRCS models, NWS models), as well as experience in the use of AutoCAD and/or Microstation. Working experience with GIS-based software is also desired. Initial responsibilities will include project and task management, preparation of proposals, presentations, and reports, hydrologic and hydraulic studies, preparation of permit application documents, business development, and providing technical assistance, training, and direct supervision to junior engineers and engineers-in-training on a diverse array of projects requiring surface water hydrologic and hydraulic expertise. Typical projects may include, but are not limited to, floodplain reclamation; watershed hydrology; floodplain management; erosion, sedimentation, and scour analyses; channelization and hydraulic structure designs; design and inspection of dams; application of computer modeling techniques in determining hydrologic and hydraulic processes; flood control design; water rights; watershed and reservoir yield studies; long-range water supply studies; flood forecasting; flood inundation mapping; watershed monitoring systems; determination of hydrologic environmental consequences; and regulatory support, including preparation of reports, graphics, and other supporting technical documentation to be included in permit applications and approval processes with Federal, State, and local authorities.
The successful candidates will be highly motivated, multi-task oriented, capable of working effectively with and under the direction of several team members with limited supervision, dedicated to learning and applying their developed expertise on a wide variety of projects, and must have good oral and written communication skills and a good knowledge of basic hydrologic and hydraulic fundamentals. Experience in marketing and public presentations is highly desired. Salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the field of water resources, project management, and business development abilities.

The desired candidates will have a BS or MS degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Hydrologic Sciences, or similar field with emphasis on hydrology and hydraulics, and have both the desire and motivation to become recognized experts in the field of water resources. Applicants must have at least 2 years of related water resources experience and a demonstrated knowledge and education in basic hydrologic and hydraulic fundamentals. Initial responsibilities will include providing technical assistance under the direct supervision and training of senior registered professional water resource engineers on a diverse array of projects requiring hydrologic and hydraulic expertise.
