Transit
CP&Y has built an outstanding mutlidisciplined engineering staff with a history of successes with Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), Houston METRO, Valley Metro Rail in Phoenix, Arizona, and many municipal clients throughout Texas. Our ability to conceptualize and implement projects in different markets demonstrates our ability to meet varying needs within the industry.

METRO Light Rail Transit System, Houston, Texas
CP&Y was part of the final design team for Line Section 5 of the Houston METRO light rail starter system. Line Section 5 is a 1.4-mile double track segment through downtown. CP&Y was responsible for guideway design, drainage, systems integration, SW3P, utility coordination, and rehabilitation design of a historic bridge.
Line Sections NC-3, NC-4 & NC-5, DART, Dallas, Richardson, and Plano, Texas
CP&Y served as the Corridor Design Manager for expanding DART's LRT System from North Dallas through Richardson and Plano, Texas. The North Central corridor included 12.5-miles of double track LRT, nine new transit stations and Park-n-Ride lots, 13 new bridge structures, one historic bridge rehabilitation, 20 at-grade crossings, and extensive infrastructure improvements including utilities, drainage, and roadways. The corridor was divided into three separate design packages to facilitate construction.

Valley Metro Rail, Phoenix, Arizona
CP&Y was the structural engineer on Line Section LS-3, a 4.3-mile double track Light Rail project in the Phoenix CBD. Design specifics included the analysis and design of modifications to an existing bridge structure and a parking garage to accommodate Light Rail loading. CP&Y also designed the partial reconstruction of a pedestrian bridge along the alignment.

Northwest Corridor PE/EIS, DART, Dallas, Farmers Branch and Carrollton, Texas
CP&Y lead the preliminary engineering for DART's 18-mile LRT Phase II expansion from the Dallas CBD to Frankford Road in Carrollton, Texas and for the 12-mile Irving/DFW Spur extending from the Carrollton mainline to DFW International Airport. Work performed on the Carrollton mainline section was part of the $700-million Full Funding Grant Agreement (FFGA) DART received in July 2006 through the FTA's New Starts program.

NW-4, DART, Farmers Branch and Carrollton, Texas
CP&Y was the prime consultant in charge of final civil, structural, and landscape designs for this 5.6-mile extension of DART's LRT System. The new double track LRT facility shares ROW with freight operations requiring relocation of approximately 2.3 miles of freight track. The project also included three new LRT stations with Park-n-Ride facilities, four new bridges totaling 14,500 feet, one new bridge rehabilitation, five freight RR crossings, three freight RR/LRT combined crossings, and extensive paving, drainage and utility work throughout the corridor.
