James Pruitt Joins CP&Y as Field Practice Deputy Director

CP&Y welcomes James Pruitt as the Field Practice Deputy Director. James brings over 28 years of Resilient-Sustainable-Smart design and construction experience of state and municipal roadways as well as extensive private commercial development experience.


A steward of business operations, James not only brings a strong technical, project and program management background but also significant experience in client relationship and leadership in consequence management. James will bring invaluable experience to CP&Y with his strong relationship-building expertise and exceptional ability to navigate through challenging issues that arise during design and construction activities. James will be a key business developer in growing CP&Y’s federal program. His experience in contingency operations and nation building infrastructure programs is value added that will be an integral part of developing the federal program.


His client focus has centered on municipal roadway design, Department of Transportation, Construction Engineering Inspection, survey, subsurface utility engineering, water and wastewater design. His projects have run the gamut from overseeing multi-million dollar construction projects to ensure they were in line with State guidelines and developing recommendations, to overseeing both design and construction administration services related to paving, drainage, utility, and bridge improvements, to being the Principal in Charge of survey, SUE, PS&E, bid phase assistance and other reconstruction projects. He also has managed numerous time sensitive commercial development projects for various facilities and organizations.


James is a graduate of University of Texas at Austin and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. James is an active member of the U.S. Navy Seabees as a reserve Civil Engineer Corps officer, where he just returned from an 8-month deployment in support of Joint Special Operations Command.
